I have recently become fascinated with the idea of having a moonlight garden. I was wondering if anyone has tried one and what types of flowers show best at night?
I've never thought of a moonlight garden, but what a charming idea! I looked it up and some plants that flower at night include the moonflower, the nocturnal daylily, night phlox, yucca, and angel's trumpet.
Thanks for the flower ideas. I have never heard of a nocturnal daylily. I will have to do some research and see if they will grow here. A friend of mine uses twinkle lights in her moonlight garden. Her daughter thinks they are "fairies."

I agree that it is a lovely idea. I wish I could do something like that as well, but it is not feasible with my set up. It makes me curious, though. Maybe I'll do some research on this, too.
If you have a deck or porch you could always do a container garden instead. I initially thought about doing one that way, but I'm afraid the cats would destroy it. They have enough fun jumping in and out of my potted herb plants.
I would have to put in a statue of Persephone, who is the Greek goddess who is credited with creating all the nocturnal plants and flowers such as nightshade and others mentioned here while she was locked up in Hades' underworld. I also think a garden filled with white flowers would be beautiful.
Interesting, I have never heard of a moon light garden. I better not let my wife know about this, or I will have another project on my to-do list! I think a water feature would be nice for a moon light garden, and do not forget the seating.
